Leisure Isle predates the Thesen Islands marina development and reads very differently as a result — a collection of individually built bungalow and mid-century homes rather than one architect's coordinated estate. Gardens here have had decades to mature, which changes the shading conversation from the outset: some Leisure Isle plots already get real afternoon shelter from established trees, and some don't, sometimes on the very same street.

More than one room fighting the same glare

Because Leisure Isle sits on the water on more than one side, it's common for two or three rooms in the same house — not just one feature window — to face open lagoon and take the same reflected-glare problem through the day. That usually turns a Leisure Isle measure into a whole-house conversation rather than a single-window one: get the fabric logic right in the main living room, and the same logic generally carries through to the other water-facing rooms.

Sunscreen for the view, cellular for the bedrooms

For the main living and dining glass, a view-preserving sunscreen roller is the usual first answer — see our roller blinds page. For bedrooms, a cellular honeycomb blind adds genuine insulation and quiet on top of light control, which matters on an older Leisure Isle home where the original glazing and wall insulation are rarely as tight as a new build's. Kitchens and bathrooms get aluminium venetians as standard, for the same moisture reasons as anywhere else on the water.

Working around mature gardens

Assess the room, not the street

Because established trees already do real shading work on some Leisure Isle plots and none on others, we don't default to a blanket spec for the island. A free in-home measure lets us look at what each room actually gets through the day — a north-facing lounge under an old milkwood behaves nothing like the equivalent room two doors down with a clear run to the water.
