The range

Twelve products for a town built around water

A lagoon-facing lounge and a forest-facing bedroom rarely want the same fabric, and a canal-front facade on Thesen Islands wants a different exterior spec to a dune-front wall at Brenton. This is the full range we measure and fit across greater Knysna.

Roller Blinds

Blockout or sunscreen fabric, made to measure for a lagoon view that doesn't want to disappear behind the blind.

How we specify for Knysna

Built for a town that doubles its own light

Most of Knysna's residential stock sits somewhere between three edges — the lagoon, the forest and the open coast beyond the Heads — and each edge argues for a different specification. Water-reflected glare, forest humidity and coastal wind rarely turn up in the same room, so we don't spec them the same way.

01

Water throws light twice

A lagoon-facing lounge on Thesen Islands or Leisure Isle takes direct sun and its mirror image bounced back off open water for a large part of the day. Blanket blockout solves the glare and loses the view that sold the house — a view-preserving sunscreen fabric is usually the better first answer.

02

Rain in every month, not one season

Knysna's rainfall doesn't cluster into a single wet season the way a Cape Town winter does — it recurs through the year, with the Outeniqua foothills catching noticeably more than the coast. Sealed, moisture-stable materials matter here in a way a dry-summer suburb never has to think about.

03

Belvidere asks for restraint, not blockout

Belvidere's Georgian and Victorian-revival cottages carry real, visible heritage character, not a marketing gloss, and it shows in what owners there want on a facade. Warm timber venetians and interior-first treatments read as appropriate in a room like that; anything that visually competes with the architecture from outside usually doesn't.

04

The open coast is a different wind case entirely

Brenton-on-Sea takes the fullest direct salt air and onshore wind of anywhere in this site's reach, while Thesen Islands and Leisure Isle, tucked inside the estuary, get real shelter from the surrounding land. Exterior products on the open coast get sealed cassettes and wind-sensor motorisation as the standard spec, not an upsell.

Scroll — the cliffline draws in above the water, and its own reflection completes below.

Chapter Two — The Marina

Questions

Honest answers before you commit

Do you cover all of greater Knysna, or just the lagoon side?
We measure and fit across greater Knysna — the lagoon islands, the forest-edge suburbs and the coast out at Brenton-on-Sea among the areas we cover most. Tell us your address through the form or chat and a consultant will confirm reach and timing before booking your measure.
Why does a lagoon-facing window need different fabric to a forest-facing one?
A lagoon-facing room takes direct sun plus its own reflection bounced back off open water for a large part of the day — a view-preserving sunscreen usually beats blanket blockout there. A forest-facing room gets a lower, dappled, more filtered light through the canopy, which is more about softening and privacy than pure heat-block. We spec each window on its own orientation, not a single house-wide default.
Are your roller shutters security shutters?
No. Our roller shutters are a shading product — sun, glare and heat control on the outside of the glass, with a genuine blackout benefit for bedrooms. They are not security-rated shutters; that's a different product entirely, which we can quote separately if you need it.
Will an awning or zip screen survive the wind at Brenton-on-Sea?
Every motorised awning, zip screen and external blind we fit on the open coast at Brenton carries wind-sensor retraction as standard, so it closes itself before a gust arrives. Homes tucked inside the estuary on Thesen Islands or Leisure Isle get real natural shelter from the surrounding land and can often run a lighter spec — we'll tell you honestly which applies to your address.
Can you fit blinds in Belvidere without upsetting the heritage look?
Yes — that's usually the whole brief there. We lean on interior-first treatments like timber venetians that suit a Georgian or Victorian-revival room, and we keep anything on the outside of the building as discreet as the architecture calls for.
Do you offer child-safe options?
Yes, on every corded or chained product. Cord and chain tensioners are standard on every install, and for nurseries or playrooms we recommend cordless or motorised control — nothing dangling within reach at all.
